Sometimes wisdom teeth cause more harm than good for your smile, which is why it’s often recommended to extract them. If Drs. Sepi and Sean recommended this for you, you are on your way toward a top-notch oral health. Now remember: it’s important to fully recover after treatment. To help you do so, we have some tips we would like to share.

Tip No. 1: Do what you can to stop the bleeding and reduce the swelling. You can stop the bleeding by placing a piece of gauze on the surgical site and then adding pressure for 45 minutes. Once the time is up, replace it with a clean pad. To decrease the inflammation, ice outside the area with an ice pack for 15 minutes at a time. Make sure to take breaks between icing increments.

Tip No. 2: Take the necessary medications to relieve pain. Your dentists will typically give you pain medication after your surgery. If this is the case for you, please take the medication as recommended. If Dr. Sepi and Dr. Sean didn’t give you medication, you can take over-the-counter painkillers.

Tip No. 3: Eat soft foods the first 24 hours following surgery. It’s recommended to eat foods like mashed potatoes, yogurt, ice cream, etc. We also strongly encourage you to avoid using a straw.

If you do these things, there is a good chance you will properly recover from wisdom tooth extraction in Vallejo, California. For more details and information, please don’t hesitate to contact Plaza Dental Care at 707-642-1360. Our dental team will be excited to assist you!
