Did you know a healthy diet exists for your teeth? Well, it’s true! Having a healthy diet to go hand-in-hand with brushing and flossing will strengthen your teeth and keep them healthy throughout your life. Our dentists, Dr. Sean and Dr. Sepi with Plaza Dental Care in Vallejo, California, are happy to give you tips and advice about a healthy diet so that you can have a healthy smile.

Here are some diet tips to keep your teeth healthy and strong:

– Try to avoid products that are hard in nature and can fracture your teeth. Never bite into solid products.

– Try to eliminate acidic foods from your diet. The same can be said for acidic drinks.

– To help remove foods lodged between teeth, make sure to use a clean tool, such as a piece of floss to reach areas between teeth after eating.

– Avoid snacking throughout the day. To limit snacking, always eat foods as part of larger meals.

– Saliva is very important for keeping your mouth clean. To help reduce additional saliva, eat crunchy/watery foods including apples.

– Minerals such as calcium and phosphorus can be beneficial for helping to keep your tooth enamel strong. They can help remineralize your teeth and provide an added layer of protection.

Your tooth enamel is durable, but over time can wear down, which is why keeping your oral hygiene up with a proper diet can help strengthen your teeth and keep your smile healthy. Welcome to Plaza Dental Care, a  comprehensive, family-friendly dental practice in Vallejo, California, where we use state-of-the-art dental technology, including CEREC® one-visit restorations for our patients seeking a high-quality, natural-looking dental crown.

As well as covering a tooth that is damaged, weakened or discolored, our porcelain dental crown can be used to help a tooth’s shape or appearance to look more attractive, and also to keep the bite healthy as a crown prevents the teeth from shifting.

Our porcelain dental crowns are created to match your own pearly whites, making them a natural-looking replacement. The life of a dental crown can run anywhere between five to fifteen years, depending on the amount of stress you place on it and how well you care for your oral health in general. Taking excellent care of your crown means staying on top of your oral health which includes:

  1. Brushing at least twice a day
  2. Flossing daily at least once (particularly around the crown area where your gums reach the tooth)
  3. Avoiding hard foods, biting your fingernails and grinding and clenching your teeth
  4. Keeping up with routine professional dental cleanings and exams

Do you have a damaged or missing tooth that may benefit from wearing a dental crown? If so, Dr. Sean and Dr. Sepi in Vallejo, California, are here to help restore your smile in just one visit. To schedule visit with our skilled team, please call 707-642-1360 today and let us restore your smile confidence!
