Did you know there are bad tooth brushing habits that can affect the condition of your teeth and gums? Well, it’s true, and our dentist, Dr. Khashayar Khomejany, strongly recommends avoiding those habits as much as possible. To help you do so, they is happy to list those habits as well as give you the tips you need to do just the opposite.

-Using a toothbrush that doesn’t have soft bristles (Soft bristles are the best because they clean the teeth and care for the gums)

-Using a toothbrush that hasn’t been approved by the American Dental Association (The ADA stamp of approval is important because it proves the tool is safe and effective in an oral hygiene routine)

-Not brushing for the appropriate amount of time (It’s best to brush for two minutes each time you scrub your chompers)

-Brushing too hard or too often (You should brush your teeth with a gentle motion and you should brush twice a day, typically every morning and night)

To learn more about bad tooth brushing habits in Vallejo, California, our dental team encourages you to call Plaza Dental Care at 707-642-1360 today. We are here to give you the tips, information, and answers you need to have the best brushing technique possible. We look forward to helping you!

Do you have an upcoming appointment with us that involves restoring your smile with a dental bridge? If so, you’re on your way toward the complete, healthy, and attractive smile you desire. To help you get ready for the treatment, Dr. Khashayar Khomejany is happy to share the details of your appointment so you know what to expect.

First, Dr. Khomejany will make sure you are comfortable in the dental chair by numbing the mouth with a local anesthetic. This should keep your pain at bay. Next, they will trim the neighboring teeth that will anchor the bridge in the mouth. This will make room for the dental crowns that secure the bridge.

Next, your dentist will make imprints of the smile after the teeth are altered and then will send those imprints to a dental lab so the technicians can make your dental bridge. While you wait between appointments, your dentist will place two temporary crowns over the shaved teeth so you can use them.

Finally, once your bridge is ready and sent back to Plaza Dental Care, you will visit us once again. Then, Dr. Khomejany will check the size, fit, and look of the bridge. This will help the dentist make sure it’s exactly what you want. Then, they will cement it into the gap of your mouth.

Call Plaza Dental Care in Vallejo, California, at 707-642-1360 if you have any questions or if you’re interested in knowing more about dental bridges. Our dental team wants you to have a successful and pleasant dental experience with us, so we are more than happy to give you the information you’re looking for.

Sometimes wisdom teeth cause more harm than good for your smile, which is why it’s often recommended to extract them. If Drs. Sepi and Sean recommended this for you, you are on your way toward a top-notch oral health. Now remember: it’s important to fully recover after treatment. To help you do so, we have some tips we would like to share.

Tip No. 1: Do what you can to stop the bleeding and reduce the swelling. You can stop the bleeding by placing a piece of gauze on the surgical site and then adding pressure for 45 minutes. Once the time is up, replace it with a clean pad. To decrease the inflammation, ice outside the area with an ice pack for 15 minutes at a time. Make sure to take breaks between icing increments.

Tip No. 2: Take the necessary medications to relieve pain. Your dentists will typically give you pain medication after your surgery. If this is the case for you, please take the medication as recommended. If Dr. Sepi and Dr. Sean didn’t give you medication, you can take over-the-counter painkillers.

Tip No. 3: Eat soft foods the first 24 hours following surgery. It’s recommended to eat foods like mashed potatoes, yogurt, ice cream, etc. We also strongly encourage you to avoid using a straw.

If you do these things, there is a good chance you will properly recover from wisdom tooth extraction in Vallejo, California. For more details and information, please don’t hesitate to contact Plaza Dental Care at 707-642-1360. Our dental team will be excited to assist you!

Are you interested in knowing the particular details about your six-month checkup that is coming up? If so, our Plaza Dental Care dental team is happy to help you!

At the beginning of your treatment, your hygienist will deeply clean your chompers with special tools and techniques that remove the dangerous substances from the surfaces of your smile, like plaque and tartar. This is a beneficial treatment because it reduces your chances of falling victim to tooth decay and gum disease. Next, they will check your teeth and gums and look for any signs of trouble. Then, they will floss the nooks and crannies of your smile and will remove any plaque and food particles that live there. Finally, they will polish your teeth with a polishing treatment that will remove the surface stains from your smile.

At the end of your visit, Dr. Khashayar Khomejany will examine your entire mouth and look for any signs of tooth decay, gum disease, and enamel erosion. If they sees any signs, they will discuss your treatment options with you to help you strengthen your smile and oral health. In addition to this exam, they will also perform an oral cancer screening, which will involve inspecting your mouth and throat for signs of oral or pharyngeal cancer.

Now that you know the steps involved in your treatment, there is no need to be nervous or stressed. As you can see, your appointment should be easy and painless. For more information about your six-month checkups in Vallejo, California, please call our office at 707-642-1360 at your earliest convenience. Our dental team will be more than happy to help you with anything you need!

Do you feel like you’re allergic to pretty much everything? If so, then you might want to find out if you’re allergic to the products and objects you can find at the dental office. That way you know you’ll have a safe and comfortable dental experience when you come in to meet with one of our dentists, Khashayar Khomejany (Dr. Sean) and Dr. Sepi.

Some common dental products you could be allergic to include:

Latex: Latex is a common allergy in the dental office because it can be found in gloves, rubber dams, and even X-ray bite tabs. If you call our office beforehand and let us know about this allergy, we will be sure to use different products to clean and examine your smile. That way you’ll have a comfortable and allergy-free visit!

Anesthesia: Many people are allergic to anesthesia. If you’re one of these people, there is no need to worry. We have other options that can help you have a relaxing dental experience all while keeping you safe and free from harm. Just remember to tell your dentist about your allergy so they can make any necessary changes to the treatment plan.

Metals: There are many treatments that have certain metals in them, like amalgam fillings, retainers, and dentures. So, if you’re allergic to metal, then it’s important to let us know. Then we can use a different treatment or appliance to help your smile.

Like mentioned before, if you let our team know about any dental allergies you have, we will be happy to make the necessary accommodations so you can have the best dental experience possible. For more information and details about dental allergies in Vallejo, California, please call Plaza Dental Care at 707-642-1360 at your earliest convenience.

Halloween can be a scary time for your smile, especially if you don’t take good care of your teeth. So, to help you scare away dental issues this Halloween, our Plaza Dental Care team recommends doing the following things:

-Brush your fangs: Brushing is very important, so make sure to brush your teeth twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. The soft bristles will deeply clean your teeth and care for your gums and the fluoride toothpaste will strengthen your teeth, giving them the ability to fight the harmful particles candy leaves behind.

-Floss your chompers: Try to floss between your teeth at least once a day. Flossing will help remove the candy that is stuck in the crevices of your smile, which will help prevent tooth decay and gum disease.

-Avoid sticky, hard, and gooey treats: Sticky, hard, and gooey treats tend to stick to the smile for a long period of time. This is harmful because it can threaten your teeth and cause many dental issues. So, it’s best to avoid choosing these types of treats when you visit each house on Halloween night.

-Visit your dental issue-fighting hero, the dentist: Your dental checkup and cleaning is very beneficial. It removes the plaque and tartar from your teeth and it also strengthens your smile, increasing your chances of preventing dental issues that can be caused by Halloween treats. So, if you are due for your six-month checkup, now is a great time to visit your dentist!

If you do these things, you will be on the right track toward a smile-healthy Halloween in Vallejo, California! For more information and details about oral hygiene, dental checkups, and Halloween smile tips, please feel free to call our office today at 707-642-1360. Dr. Khashayar Khomejany and our dental team are more than happy to help you, and we look forward to hearing from you!
