Are you contemplating having your wisdom teeth removed? If so, good for you! Having your teeth removed is an important decision that could affect your oral health for years to come. That is why understanding why people have them removed can help you with your choice.

Our dentists, Dr. Khashayar Khomejany, can help you with removing your wisdom teeth. To help you understand why our team at Plaza Dental Care in Vallejo, California, has provided some basic insight for you.

Your wisdom teeth are the last of your adult teeth to develop in your gums. Wisdom teeth begin to appear in the teen years or early adulthood and often comes associated with pain, fever, and discomfort in the jaw. For most people, there is not enough room in your jaw for all your wisdom teeth to grow in properly, causing them to become impacted and put a painful strain on your other teeth in your smile.

Oftentimes, your wisdom teeth can chip, crack, or hurt the neighboring teeth or the root of the teeth, which is also painful as they pierce your gums. As your wisdom teeth grow in, they can force your other teeth out of alignment making it harder to brush and floss as easily and can lead to an increase in cavities and risk of gum disease. Still, wisdom teeth below the surface can also lead to infections that can dramatically damage your oral health. That is why having them detached is always ideal to keep your oral health in fantastic shape.

As you can see there are many reasons to remove your wisdom teeth. If you still have questions or would like an evaluation, please call us today at 707-642-1360 to set up a one-on-one appointment with one of our professionals. We are always happy to assist you.

How much do you pay for toothpaste? If you’re like the rest of us, chances are you are spending somewhere in the neighborhood of $2.00 to $5.00 on average. But would you spend $100 dollars on a single tube? That’s how much you will pay for a tube of Theodent 300. According to the website luxurylaunches.com, Theodent 300 is packed with a special proprietary substance called Rennou™, which is supposed to helpful to remineralize teeth and is derived from the cocoa plant.

Toothpastes come with ingredients to whiten your teeth, freshen your breath and to fight things like plaque, tartar and even gum disease. Many brands of toothpaste contain fluoride, a mineral that has been proven to strengthen your teeth. Since every mouth is different, you should talk to your dentist about the best toothpaste for you.

In the end, it’s up to you whether or not you want to brush your teeth with $100 toothpaste. But no matter how exclusive you toothpaste may be, it won’t do you any good if it is just sitting on the shelf waiting to impress whatever guests are snooping in your medicine cabinet. As our dentist, Dr. Khashayar Khomejany will tell you, you need to brush at least twice a day, every day, for two minutes at a time.

Several aspects of your diet may be putting your teeth at an increased risk of failure. In order to ensure your diet can continue functioning effectively and keep your smile safe, avoid unhealthy habits and products that can easily chew through your tooth enamel or chip and crack teeth. Because of the multitude of ways that your teeth can be damaged from your diet, a risk prevention plan that noting tooth hazards that could be present can prove to be highly beneficial.

One of the biggest risks to optimum oral health is tooth hazards in your diet. Several tooth hazards may not be visible, including risks associated with biting into hard products. If you try to bite into a hard product, you may end up chipping and cracking your teeth. Similarly, ingredients and foods can also damage your teeth and gums. Although we all know the damage that sugars can provide, we often do little to prevent them from entering our diets. Soda, candy, fruit juice, sports drinks, energy drinks, and protein bars are all often high in sugars and should be avoided to keep your smile safe.

Caring for your smile in regard to your diet includes avoiding snacking throughout the day. By continually snacking throughout the day, you lower the chance of producing enough saliva to keep your smile safe from various risks. Furthermore, snacking throughout the day can increase the time in which debris can come into contact with your teeth and gums and contribute to tooth decay.

Do you have any additional questions or concerns about hazards in your diet? You are welcome to stop by our office. To schedule an appointment with your dentist at Plaza Dental Care, call us at our dental office in Vallejo, California, at 707-642-1360. Dr. Khashayar Khomejany and our entire team look forward to seeing you soon!

Did you know a healthy diet exists for your teeth? Well, it’s true! Having a healthy diet to go hand-in-hand with brushing and flossing will strengthen your teeth and keep them healthy throughout your life. Our dentists, Dr. Sean and Dr. Sepi with Plaza Dental Care in Vallejo, California, are happy to give you tips and advice about a healthy diet so that you can have a healthy smile.

Here are some diet tips to keep your teeth healthy and strong:

– Try to avoid products that are hard in nature and can fracture your teeth. Never bite into solid products.

– Try to eliminate acidic foods from your diet. The same can be said for acidic drinks.

– To help remove foods lodged between teeth, make sure to use a clean tool, such as a piece of floss to reach areas between teeth after eating.

– Avoid snacking throughout the day. To limit snacking, always eat foods as part of larger meals.

– Saliva is very important for keeping your mouth clean. To help reduce additional saliva, eat crunchy/watery foods including apples.

– Minerals such as calcium and phosphorus can be beneficial for helping to keep your tooth enamel strong. They can help remineralize your teeth and provide an added layer of protection.

Your tooth enamel is durable, but over time can wear down, which is why keeping your oral hygiene up with a proper diet can help strengthen your teeth and keep your smile healthy. At Plaza Dental Care, our dentists, Dr. Sean and Dr. Sepi offer scaling and root planing for our patients who find themselves fighting chronic gum disease. Also known as periodontal disease, this is a highly treatable oral disease, especially in the early stages. In this stage, our dentists can often turn around gum disease with this non-surgical deep cleaning treatment.

Along with improved dental hygiene, including brushing and flossing daily to remove that bacterial film called plaque, scaling and root planing can help your gums avoid the more destructive stages that can occur as the gums progress in infection.

When you receive a scaling and root planing treatment, plaque and tartar (or hardened plaque) is removed below the gums by your dentist. This is the scaling treatment. To do the root planing, your dentist will clean your tooth roots, and the bacteria on the roots will be smoothed away (planing). Doing this will help you to keep your supportive bone material intact and prevent tooth loss.

While this is a painless procedure, some patients prefer breaking it up into several appointments where one section is deep cleaned at a time. We also offer sedative options for those patients who have dental anxiety and wish to be as comfortable as possible during procedures. Our goal is to provide you with the quality care you need in the comfort you deserve.

Our dentists in Vallejo, California, are ready to give you the help you need to overcome chronic gum disease. We invite you to schedule a scaling and root planing treatment with our Plaza Dental Care team at 707-642-1360.

Although mouthwash should never be substituted as a replacement for either brushing or flossing your teeth, it remains a highly effective oral health care treatment tool to consider as a supplementary cleaning utensil for your oral health care.

Be aware that mouthwash products vary depending on the benefits they are seeking to achieve. Some mouthwash products focus on freshening breath, while others rely on whitening your teeth, providing fluoride treatments, or reducing plaque buildup.

When searching for a mouthwash product to use, always look for the ADA Seal of Acceptance. The seal is given out by the American Dental Association and signifies the product has met the highest standards of safety and efficiency. For additional product suggestions and recommendations, you can always speak with your dentist. No matter which product you choose, make sure that the mouthwash product meets the goals you’re looking for.

If you are looking to restore your smile with effective oral health care treatments, contact Dr. Khashayar Khomejany and our team at Plaza Dental Care. Premolars and molars have grooves and fissures that help those teeth to chew food. Unfortunately, bacteria and plaque can collect in those areas. If they aren’t thoroughly cleaned, cavities can develop. If left unchecked, a cavity may become too large for the dentist to repair it with a filling.

When a tooth is in this condition your dentist might recommend using a special inlay or onlay dental filling. An inlay might only be needed if the area of tooth decay is limited to the surface of the tooth. However, if the decay is severe enough, the dentist might recommend repairing the tooth with an onlay filling.

These fillings need to be prepared in a dental lab. Once the decay has been removed from the tooth, Dr. Khashayar Khomejany will apply a temporary dental filling. You will need to return for a follow-up appointment when the permanent filling is ready. Once the dentist cements it in place, the filling will maintain the strength and integrity of the tooth for many years to come.

If you live in Vallejo, California, and you have noticed a cavity on one of your teeth, you should call 707-642-1360 to for an appointment at Plaza Dental Care.

A toothache is a condition often present in a tooth that can range from mild to debilitating pain. Often times the pain arises from the nerve endings in the pulp either damaged or infected. A variety of reasons could be the root cause for the pain and the damage, including oral accidents, cavities, infection, tooth loss, unseen damage, and other internal health issues.

Sometimes, toothaches can cause other symptoms to flare up, including fevers, chills, and facial rashes. If you think that a toothache may be to blame for your facial pain, seek out your dentist for further treatment.

Another common sign of a toothache is pain that continues even after taking pain relievers and medications. Furthermore, toothaches can sometimes be visually present in your mouth, and take the shape of inflammations or swelling around a tooth, such as in the form of an abscess or discharge. If you have recently had an oral accident, then it is likely that a toothache may have occurred as the result of blunt trauma or other direct harm inflicted onto a tooth.

If you suffer from a toothache, contact Plaza Dental Care at 707-642-1360 to see which treatment is right for you. If you are looking for a dentist in Vallejo, California, you can schedule an oral examination with Dr. Khashayar Khomejany and our team at our dentist office. If you are not a fan of traditional dental floss, or you have a condition that makes flossing difficult or impossible, you might try using a water flosser.

Here are some things to think about when considering a water flosser:

– Water flossers, like threaded dental floss, are used to clean between teeth with a steady stream of water which will wash away food particles and debris.
– Water flossers may benefit individuals with dental treatment amenities such as orthodontic aligners, dental bridges, dentures, and dental crowns.
– Water flossers with the ADA Seal of Acceptance have been shown to effectively wash away plaque buildup and have also been proven to aid in the prevention of gum disease.
– Using a water flosser is easier than using threaded floss and is highly recommended for individuals that struggle with traditional flossing methods.

Our team at Plaza Dental Care focuses on a variety of dental services to suit all your needs. If you would like exam and cleaning from Dr. Khashayar Khomejany, please book an appointment to come see us at our office in Vallejo, California. We can be reached at 707-642-1360.
